"I wanted
to take a moment and let you know about my experience with
one of your turbos. It blows!
Around 6 months ago, I installed one of your TD06H-20G's with a
clipped turbine and 3" inlet on my 2005 Impreza STi. I'm happy to say
this turbo exceeds my expectations. I'm producing 344 AWHP on DynoComp's
Dyno Dynamics.
We estimate on this particular dyno that calculates to around 475 crank
HP.
It might be even more impressive consider I'm using a TMIC and our
awful 91 octane Arizona gas. We are targeting 19 PSI and it taper to
~18 PSI at redline, where it is still pulling. We can see there is
even more potential in the turbo if I moved to a front mount and more
importantly, higher octane fuel. Many local STi's with larger turbos
(such as Greens and even some
SR55's) are doing roughly the same HP (or less) on this dyno using our
91 pump, but with more lag, of course. Even on your site, there is a
plot of a
SZ49 pumping 21PSI and making 337 HP (Dyno Dynamics) with 95 octane.
It goes to show that power is more that just a turbo, but the sum of the
parts.
I firmly believe this can be one of the best turbos available for a
street STi (or 2.5L 06+ WRX). It provides the best of both: low-end
torque and high-end power. I would happily do it again: not only is
the turbo great but the pre-sales support was also some of the best I've
experienced.

" Jerry,
I'd like you to post my feedback on your website if you'd like. I
mounted the turbo I ordered from you, a used vf39 ceramic coated monster
ported turbo. It solved my boost creep issue that I had on my '04 STI after
installing an APS 3" TBE. I was very pleased with the spooling
characteristics of the turbo.
Acceleration was smoother like I had read. I believe that with my stock ECU
flash that I am still getting max boost at around 4000 RPMs. Which is
expected since that is what the car was designed to do from the showroom
floor. At 12 feet above sea level 94 degrees ferenheit outside, I was able
to hold a strong 1.1 bar to redline in 4th, fifth and sixth. I would
recommend your products and services to anyone looking for a cooler intake
charge, smoother acceleration, and broader power band with tuning. Thanks
for all of your patience and assistance with an issue that has plagued me
for nearly a year.
Sincerely,

"Hi everyone,
Deadbolt turbo is without a doubt, the best company to do business with!
Jerry really cares about his work, and the people that he does it for. I
sent him an email in the middle of a saturday night, and he responded to me
literally with the first half of sunday! This was no two line answer, mind
you! A very comprehensive reply. He does what it takes to stick to his word,
even if it means working through natural catastrophies! He keeps you
thoroughly updated on the stage of the work that your turbo is going
through. And repacked my turbo in a better packing than I sent the thing to
him in the first place. Jerry really takes pride in his work. You'll know
what good service is once you've hired Deadbolt to service your turbo!!!!!
Thanks Jerry, another satisfied customer!

"I have been dealing with Jerry, aka Deadbolt, for over a year now and
have had nothing but the BEST service and dealings with him."
"I've owned 2 or 3 turbos that he's done work on. I was one of the
first to use his Monster td-04 and I got GREAT results out of it. (230 ftlbs
of torque to the wheels and 17 psi MAP by 3k rpms)
I've got his 16g on the car now and I can't even begin to explain how
impressed I am with this turbo. When I had a small and rather anal complaint
about one of the hoses he let me send it back and fixed it for me.
Fact is... he does a wonderful job and he is well known here in the SE and
liked by pretty much everyone."
"I have dealt with over 100 aftermarket companies during the past 15
years. Deadbolt is the ONLY company that treats customers like I would treat
my own. Going the extra mile is what Jerry is all about. I know this first
hand. He has literally bent over backwards to make sure that I am happy with
his products and services.
When you deal with someone over a period of time, you get a good feel for
their ethics, personality, and trustworthiness. Jerry rates A++++ with me
and most of the others that have ever dealt with him. He is polite, honest
and straightforward. This is something that you don't see much in the
business world today, and is something that I respect more than almost
anything else."
"Deadbolt did what he said he was going to do when they said it was
going to be done. The work is top notch and high quality. A more cooperative
guy is hard to find."
"Deadbolt is top shelf all the way as far as I'm concerned."
"I just got my turbo back from him last week, and I'm very satisfied.
There were no problems and the service was top notch. So, if anyone is
thinking of getting this service I say go for it. You won't be
dissatisfied.
Cheers, Andrew"
"Jerry was a pleasure to do business with. The product is outstanding
and his price is great, too."
"Quality of work: outstanding
Speed- TAT: outstanding
Helpfulness: outstanding
What needs particular attention is that I had my VF39 Monster port and
polished by Deadbolt over Thanksgiving. When I reinstalled it everything
seemed fine but boost creep eventually returned. Unsure if it was ECU
learning around the flow, too much intake side porting/polishing or other. I
discussed the issue on ClubWRX and here and the idea for a larger flapper
and making the wastegate hole that much bigger. Mr Hagan not only did the
R&D, sourcing, and testing of the Black Hole "TM" flapper upgrade, but as I
was the first to report the problem he replaced my flapper and sent me a
check to cover the cost of my shipping. Should I have further needs for
turbos or machine work for turbos- I will be extremely hard pressed to go to
anyone except Deadbolt."
"My experience with Jerry at Deadbolt was great.
My communications with him were excellent. He answers emails and PMs very
quickly and expertly.
He was open to a rather unusual way of paying due to my having to "secret"
funds to him. He was also open to rather unusual shipping methods as
well. Both things allowed me to get my turbo without getting me in hot water
with the Mrs.
From a Vendor viewpoint, I had an excellent experience and would recommend
him to anyone."
"I ordered my TD05-20G from Jerry. He answered all my questions, and
after reading many other positive experiences, I placed my order. The turbo
arrived within a week and everything was included.
Unfortunately there was some damage to the turbo during shipping - even
though the box had FRAGILE stickers on every side and was packed very well
with padding on all sides (pronounce UPS). I immediately e-mailed Jerry and
he responded right away. He quickly faxed me a return label and I was able
to ship the turbo back to him the same day. He maintained excellent
communication and truly did everything in his power to resolve the issue as
fast as possible. The repaired turbo is on it's way as I write this, and I
couldn't be happier.
I will honestly say that I am VERY pleased with my dealings with Deadbolt.
This is hands down the best customer service I have ever had and I would
recommend him to anyone.
Oh, and how can I forget - the turbo is a work of art!!! The porting work is
smooth and the ceramic coating is very clean. Everything is included and
there is an information sheet with recommended break-in as well as some
installation guidelines!"
"As most of you SE guys and gals know, there was a 'group tune' setup
for this summer as 10 guys pitched togeather to have Clark (AZSCOOBIE) come
out to the Atlanta GA area and tune subies.
Background:Having spoken to **(see note below) before
on the phone I know it takes them 10 days to build a turbo so I called over
2 weeks in advance to have them build me a TD06 20g for the tune. They
encouraged me to call back at any time to check on the status of the build
and told me I would definately get it in time for the tune (I stressed the
point that I needed it before the Sat. of Clarks tune)
I called several times over the next two weeks inquiring about the build
status of my 20g. They told me that the only thing they were waiting on was
the compressor wheel. As soon as they had said wheel they could ship the
turbo the very next day. I remind them about the fact that I need it by a
specific date and they assure me that the wheels are already over due and
should be in any day. Trusting them I place my deposit for the Clark tune.
4 days before I leave for Atlanta: After going a couple days w/o
talking to ** I am starting to get antsy. I make a call to only reaffirm the
worst- Compressor wheel still not in yet, however they tell me that they
have 18G's and GREEN's on the shelf ready to ship out. I tell them that I
don't want a GREEN or an 18G but I also don't want to lose my $60 deposit
that I had w/ the Clark tuning setup. I end up settling for an 18G and pay
for 2 day air so I can get it in time and install before the trip to
Atlanta.
Friday before: 18G arrives and I'm excited as anyone else when they
get a turbo in the mail. I open the package and see the 18G in the box,
looks like a nice turbo (could have done more w/ the port work but I'm not
going to complain about that) I unwrap the tape covering the midsection and
see the water feed and return holes. On their website I read that IHI water
lines will bolt right up so I take the lines and bolts off my VF22.
The Bad Part: Lines and bolts do NOT fit. The bolts are too small and
the line does not fit over the spacing of the holes. I'm flustered to say
the least, I try the oil return line from my VF22 (since the 18G didnt come
with one) and it doesnt fit either. There is now no way I can get my 18G on
to my wrx in time to go to Atlanta, so I forfeit my deposit.
The Call: I call ** and explain the problem, the guy who answered the
phone asks,
"The water lines should work, what turbo do you have?"
Again I remind him, "IHI VF22, your website says the lines will work, can
you send me ones that will fit?"
He tells me that they can only supply me w/ the bolts. I tell him this is
pointless because the larger bolts will not fit the waterlines that were
designed for smaller bolts. His solution? Dremel the waterline so that it
will accept the larger bolts. I tell him I don't think that is smart because
of the obvious leak problems that would ensue. He puts me on hold and comes
back with the answer that I can run the turbo dry- no water needed and I
should just bypass the coolant lines totally. At this point i figure i'm
never going to get anywhere so I thank him for his time and start looking at
my other options.
Enter hero: I swing by my local friendly neighborhood Subaru
dealer(Prestige) and learn from the awesome parts dealer that I should
contact Deadbolt Enterprises because he would have the parts I need. I email
Deadbolt Enterprises relaying my problems and by the end of the week he
drops off the exact parts I need.
Moral of the story: I have heard great things about **'s turbos, but
caveat emptor - their customer service is a far cry from suitable. Shop at
Deadbolt Enterprises instead.

"I just had some work done on my car and I had my stock turbo ported
and polished.
The guys from Deadbolt did a great job of working with me to meet my time
constraints...and the turbo feels great!
Good job Deadbolt!

"Great service from Deadbolt. Great workmanship on the Zilla 20g. I had
to call him over a few things and he was always helpful even after hours.
Would definitely do busines with him again. He also rushed my turbo out to
meet my deadline and actually did it, Unlike a lot of other people. Kudos
to Jerry.
Mike"
"If anyone needs turbo work, Jerry @
www.deadboltspeed.com is the guy to talk to.
I took him my jdm turbo that had a 90 degree bend on the inlet and he
converted it to a straight inlet so I can use it on my usdm setup. He also
fixed a stripped out stud hole on the housing."
"Deadbolt is a great vendor. Even though my experience with him ended
short due to my turbo being broken beyond my repair budget, his
communication was excellent."
